At the end of the course, students will be enabled to understand public policy
processes, content, and outcomes from an economic development perspective.
Specifically, the course focuses on the principles and practice of economic governance
and management. Students will appraise and assess official (policy and practical) aspects
of the government’s quest to grow the economy, reduce poverty and inequality, generate
employment opportunities, and conserve the environment. Case studies will be reviewed to
discern lessons and best practice which could assist in understanding the feasibilities and
challenges of formulating and implementing complex and intertwined government
economic policies and development programmes.
